So I know tonymac suggest samsung SSDs, but new eg is offering the seagate 600 series 240 gb for 120, would it work with gigabyte motherboard h87n and support a hackintosh? And if so, should I get it?

I don't think the brand of SSDs matter much, just as you can use any brand of hard disk. So I would say if you want that Seagate SSD you can get it and it should work with OSX.
