can't figure out how to get sound working with this card (i looked at the X-Fi Fatality Pro thread already). i never bothered with sound when i had 10.6.2, so now im curious on how to get it working.

i disabled my onboard audio in the bios, removed the AppleHDA and LegacyHDA kext, added voodoohda with kexthelper (it installed it in Sytem\library\extensions folder), and installed voodoo prefpane.

system profiler doesnt display any audio devices. totally stumped. everything else works except for sound! :banghead: i refuse to use onboard audio! :evil:

I assume you checked the Creative site for official drivers? Here's what my search came up with- apparently there's a mod for the opensource linux drivers. Good luck!

searched countless threads and found one way of getting it to work.

what confused me was that he said to leave onboard audio on all the time or voodoohda wont be able to map applehda to x-fi. won't enabling onboard audio cause a conflict when i boot into windows?

Hey guys, can we address this again? I am at a complete loss of what to do, it would be extremely helpful if someone posted a guide on how to make this card work. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=205606#entry1379535 This thread does not help me at all, I can't understand what they're talking about. So far I have installed VoodooHDA 2.7.2 from the installer package on their Google Code page. And from there, I have no idea what to do. If someone could give me a hint here, that would be SO AWESOME! Thanks guys!

Did anyone get this card to work? Especially the SPDIF surround sound features?

Check this post, it's pretty much all you need;

Right now the card isn't in use as I'm planning another built but the card does wonders.
Besides the headphone jack + jack out I haven't tried any of the other ports I"m afraid as I only care for stereo out, but if you can wait 5-6 weeks (Waiting for parts to be released) I'll be able to test it I guess. What ports to you consider to be essential to your setup?

The only ports that I am concerned about are digital so that I can get 5.1 surround sound. And I have read that post and a few others and everyone keeps talking about the card working, but not a single person has mentioned once whether they were able to get the SPDIF optical out to work. lol

Well I'll see what I can do, but I have no receiver with digital in (that's why stereo output is so important to me). If 5.1 is what you're looking for might onboard just not do for you? There are plenty of boards with working optical out on board.
