my old system ran Yosemite (non-clover) - then I got a new Scandisk Ultra 512 HD because I was running out of space on my Old Yosemite M4 SSD 128GB HD and wanted to upgrade to Sierra. I followed the UniBeast guide on Tonymac to install Sierra.

I have uploaded images of verbose mode and added in the config.plist in uploads. let know if its possible fix.

Additional Information:
mobo bios F10 (GA-Z68XP-UD3 rev 1.3)

Clover Settings I have done:
-s safe mode stops at apple logo
-v settings:
0uwkd5p5BjpCaSM92
hovLO2egxJKqfymi1

I was able to install UniBeast to the USB, boot from USB and install Sierra on new HD. When I got to the post-installation with MultiBeast I added the following...

  1. Quick Start: Legacy Boot Mode
  2. Drivers: FakeSMC v6.25, Realtek ALC889
  3. Bootloaders: Clover v2.4 Legacy boot mode
  4. Custom Sys Definitions: iMac 4,2
  5. I did do an ATI inject during the first post install.

(Note:) The problem may be the video card (Gigabyte Radeon HD GV-R6870OC-1GD)
(Note:) I could have jacked up the POST install for MultiBeast: Because I use to use the DSDT file.

I'm afraid to update the bios to UEFI because I'm still using my old Yosemite install - and cant afford to mess this install up because I will be out of a computer.

  • I'm still able to boot back into my old Yosemite install using the UniBeast USB drive.
  • I can also boot into Sierra (fresh install using) the same UniBeast USB drive.

To be honest, I'm lost - I read the forums and I'm just getting more confused.

~ thank you ahead of time for your help.

Since you are able to boot into your Sierra installation by using the USB stick, this suggests the configuration files on your USB stick work on your system.

So this is what I suggest you do :
(1) Boot into the Sierra installation by using your USB stick.
(2) Download Clover Configurator (Vibrant Edition), extract the file and put it into the Applications folder on your Sierra disk.
(3) Run Clover Configurator, choose Mount EFI on the left, and mount the EFI partitions on both your Sierra disk and the USB stick.
(4) Copy the EFI folder from the EFI partition on your USB stick to the EFI partition on your Sierra disk. (Both partitions are named EFI so make sure you do the copy correctly!) If there is already an EFI folder on your Sierra disk, delete it and empty the trash first.
(5) Unmount the EFI partitions from Clover Configurator. Then quit Clover Configurator.

Now you can remove the USB stick and restart your computer from your Sierra disk to see if it can boot.

Thanks for your help JB007.

I followed your advice twice once on my previous install and another time on a fresh install of Sierra.

But the system still hangs on the apple logo loader. Is there something else I can do?

At this point I can only boot Sierra using the usb drive.

Also I can no longer boot into my Yosemite (where all my files are) using the usb drive. when I try to use the usb drive to boot into Yosemite I get a ghost buster logo after the apple loader screen competes.

when I don't use the usb to boot into Sierra it hangs at the logo loading screen like it did before. also I don't see the option to go into verbose mode on the clover loader that appears when the Sierra drive is loaded.

I'm now just on a fresh copy of Sierra with no other hard drives attached to my computer and can only get in to the OS using the USB clover drive that I made with unibeast.

Hang on [ PCI configuration begin ]
If you have the option, try to disable USB3 in the BIOS.

Thanks, JB and BreBo, I did forget to disable both USB3's in Bios, I did that and it booted up instantly.

Excellent. I shall keep that in mind also. Other older motherboards may also need this "disable USB3" trick.
