Yeah, use an SSD instead.

Re: Snow Leopard boot times?

Not the obvious. Windows doesnt take as long on a normal HD. It's about 2 mins at apple logo.

Re: Snow Leopard boot times?

Any other ideas why its taking me so long to boot? Besides hardware? Seems most people start about 30-40 secs or some claim a lot less.

30 seconds or less? I'm guessing that exaggeration is the culprit there. On my old 7200 RPM hard drive, Snow Leopard never booted in faster than 1 and a half minutes. Of course, my new SSD speeds things up, but as you said, that's obvious.

You can also upgrade to OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion when it's released. Boot time is significantly faster in Lion.

Re: Snow Leopard boot times?

Thanks for the info. I'm going to do that and try a couple ideas from the forum.
