[solved] Slow wifi ar9285 on Toshiba c55 a5100

Since wifi didn't work on my Toshiba c55 a5100, I replaced the wifi card with an ar5b95 (ar9285) and installed toledaARPT.kext from deprecated files. The wifi speeds were very slow, taking 1-3 hours to download a 1 gigabyte file. PLZ HELP!!!

AR9285 is not very fast. AR9280 preferred. Best with BCM94352HMB.

Could be regdomain issue (check your system.log).

But...

Post output of:

sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /

Also, post ioreg: http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/58368-guide-how-make-copy-ioreg.html. Please, use the IORegistryExplorer v2.1 attached to the post! DO NOT reply with an ioreg from any other version of IORegistryExplorer.app.

AR9285 is not very fast. AR9280 preferred. Best with BCM94352HMB.

Apparently the exact wifi card is a 802.11a/b/g/n ar5b95 so is there a chance I am plugging the antenna into the wrong side of the wifi chip?

Possible (only two ways to connect the antennas though, so easy to try the other way).

You should test on Windows in order to isolate hardware vs. software.

Power management not implemented, but probably not affecting WiFi (just overall performance).

You should test on Windows in order to isolate hardware vs. software.

I don't have windows on my hackintosh, so I used Ubuntu. Same wifi problem. Just hardware. I will tell you if things get better after putting antenna at other side

Turns out that it was in general a bad wifi card. I have ordered an ar9280, and it will come soon. Do I need to uninstall ToledaARPT.kext?

I use AR9285, it works well. My solution is :


1. remove toledaARPT.kext

2. download rehabman's OS-X-Fake-PCI-ID, edit FakePCIID_AR9280_as_AR946x.kext/Contents/Info.plist, change pci168c,34 with pci168c,2b, put FakePCIID.kext & FakePCIID_AR9280_as_AR946x.kext into /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11
