Hello everyone: I am still disappointed that no solution has been found. I did a clean installation of the latest version 10.12.4 and still the problem was not resolved. I will be happy if there is something easy and effective solution. It's true that you can just use Google's browser or Opera, but I like the Safari browser. Thank you!

I've fixed the problem of Safari freezing when playing certain videos, so thought I'd share in case it helps:

The thread where I found the solution is here:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/solved-safari-completely-freezes-on-10-12-5.223520/

I installed the following two kexts here: /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.12/

1. IntelGraphicsFixup - An open source kernel extension providing patches for Intel GPUs
https://sourceforge.net/projects/intelgraphicsfixup/

2. vit9696/Lilu v1.1.3
https://github.com/vit9696/Lilu/releases

And that worked! Hurray!

P.S. I did not install the optional kext for broken trailers in iTunes (I don't watch trailers on iTunes) but will list it for reference:
vit9696/Shiki v2.0.2
https://github.com/vit9696/Shiki/releases

Hope that helps!

Once more disappointing. I tried to do just as you explained and again there are problems and Safari browser freezes. It seemed to me just from your explanation but it turns out that this is probably not the solution. I've given up, I use Google Chrome and it gives me an excellent solution. Google Chrome in its latest version is the fastest browser of all browsers and a pleasure to use it though I would prefer Safari because of its perfect look.

I was able to get video working in Safari and TweetBot in macOS Sierra 10.12.6 by downloading and extracting the files mentioned in astrobruin's last post in this thread and using terminal to "sudo cp -r" the three files
  1. IntelGraphicsFixup.kext
  2. Lilu.kext
  3. Lilu.kext.dSYM
into the /Library/Extensions directory.

Next, I opened the EFI partition and opened the config.plist file in my CLOVER directory and changed "Yes" to "Detect" in the SystemParameters section. I did edit the config.plist file in the terminal with sudo. I'm not sure if that made a difference.

Code:
<key>SystemParameters</key>
   <dict>
       <key>InjectKexts</key>
       <string>Detect</string>
       <key>InjectSystemID</key>
       <true/>
   </dict>

After rebooting, videos worked in Safari and TweetBot without freezing the computer.

And the latest releases of these kexts do fix the issue with High Sierra.

Man, this solution just saved me on High Sierra. I've never solved it on Sierra but my workaround used to be Opera.
Thanks a lot, everyone!:clap:

I have this issue (example - playing any video on weather.com freezes my machine) and the above solutions do not fix it for me.

- Both files (IntelGraphicsFixup.kext and Lilu.kext) are in all of the 3 suggested locations (/Library/Extensions /System/Library/Extensions /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.12/).
- I performed macbayboy suggestion - modify the config file to "detect"

Did I miss any other suggestions? I'm on 10.12.6, Intel HD Graphics 4600 1536 MB

Thanks!
