Premature declaration of success on RevengeOfZee build. It didn't work out well and requires a redo.

Boot stick successfully copied installer to NVME.. (I think), which is a Samsung 970 and a known-good drive that has run Mojave and Catalina.
On reboot, I get ONE chance to select the Install option. But, it fails with a reboot every time. Subsequent reboots never show the OC menu unless I fully power-cycle the system. It goes straight into a loop.
I have another SSD (Samsung 860) which holds the previous system (Catalina 10.15.6) Which is also known-good

The active OC plist is using the MacPro7,1 profile. I also have prepared plist for iMac19,1 and Macmini8,1 for similar Coffee Lake systems.

EFI and Boot dumps from OC attached.
Catalina install on secondary SSD is now inaccessible/unbootable. Since it was unplugged, I cannot understand how it became corrupted.

BIOS has been updated and then down-dated again. BIOS Settings have been triple-checked against the recommendations in the DortGuide. This board does not have a CFG Lock option in BIOS. So, I have enabled AppleXcpmCfgLock in Kernel --> Quirks. This does not alleviate the problem either.

The last section of the boot logs shows the problem. But, I have no idea what it actually means or how to fix it.

Do you have Fast Boot enabled in the BIOS? If so, turn that off and that should fix your issue with the OC menu showing on cold boots only.

Thank you. Yes. Fast Boot was disabled.

For Z370 you should try:
  • EnableWriteUnprotector -> True
  • RebuildAppleMemoryMap -> False
  • SyncRuntimePermissions -> False

Thanks will check and try if these are set differently.

The inelegant solution sometimes works best.

I KNEW the plist was spot-on. I just KNEW my drivers, SSDTs and hardware were good.

So, the inelegant solution was to clone a successful installation to an external SSD and try to boot it on the RevengeOfZee build... It worked without complaint. So, I am now cloning that drive to my startup volume.

I remembered that I had to do this with one of my builds back in the early days of Z370. This must be that machine. I'll need to add some LAN kext entries. But, at least now I am up and running with WiFi.
