hey,

I've read through alot of posts and googled about this installation fail problem with unibeast on a bootable USB flashdrive (16GB).

I get the same log as the others. "Redownload OSX från app store" etc. Yeah you know how it goes.

But what I do wonder is if I need to download it again? I mean, eventhough I do, it doesn't show up in the Applications folder - how do I get it to show up in my applications folder?

This is my console log:

Also I'm wondering if I should have both OSX 10.8 option and the laptop support checked in the installation process or only the laptop support?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you.

"11. Most UniBeast failures are due to your purchased copy of Install Mac OS X Lion.app or Install OS X Mountain Lion.app not being in /Applications or being corrupted. This failure can also be due to using a non-English system"

SUCCESS! Fixed by just redownloading the OSX mountain lion install and now it's in the "applications folder". Also I did set my language to another language; from Swedish to english. And indeed this worked fine! Halleluja! Thanks for this great forum!!

Glad you had success. After this weekend's questionable original download of ML, I went into the Applications folder and deleted it. I then went back into the app store and downloaded it again. The only problem there is that it would not show up in the Applications folder. Instead, it showed up in the Downloads folder. What the heck!?!

I'm wondering if the download process looks for existing other locations. I wonder about this, because when I originally downloaded it I made a copy and put it into the Downloads folder and on an external HDD. But I left the additional copies alone and only deleted the one in the application folder.

Trying to download again and see if it shows up in the Application folder, but if it does not I'll remove all copies from everywhere and try yet again. It is a PITA to have to d/l repeated to overcome the Unibeast inability to find the Install Mac OS X Mountain Lion in other common directories.

If you move "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" out of the /Applications folder the Mac App Store downloader will update it wherever it exists (any drive or folder) and not download a new copy to /Applications.

OK, I'm man enough to admit that I know when I'm lost. I went and deleted all copies from everywhere except the original download which sat in the Trash. I Put It Back and then emptied the trash. I have the Install OS X Mountain Lion back in the Applications folder, but with a date of from this weekend's questionable original download where it timed out twice, almost a third time before I paused it and rebooted.

The latest download finished about a 10 minutes ago, and when I 'Show Package Contents' I see a couple of folders with a time stamp of 6:07PM (its currently 6:39 PM) so I'm guessing you are correct--the latest download updated the .app while it sat in the trash. Let me go run Unibeast again ...
