Greetings,

iBoot is not initializing on my system.
Might one of the two following conditions be the cause for iBoot
not beginning its initialization:

1. booting from USB CD/DVD peripheral (chosen as first boot device)
2. hard drive is 1TB (plan is to partition in OSX upon booting)

All other specs are as suggested.

System reads the USB CD/DVD as the boot device. iBoot displays
"darwin x86. chameleon v2.0 - RC5 r700" message" and then prompts
to press "enter" for "Darwin x86" to proceed. Upon pressing "enter"
nothing happens.

Tying "?" displays the options. Typing -v, -x, etc does nothing.
Curser just continues blinking.

GA-X58A-UD3R (rev2)
Intel i7 -940
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 - 768MB
3 gigs Corsair DDS3 memory

Thank you for any insights, suggestions anyone might have.

....and then come back if nothing works after that

Re: iBoot Fails to Initialize

Thank you very much for your suggestion to review guide.
Once again I reviewed closely.

I am booting iBoot from a USB CD/DVD peripheral which is one of my
options in my bios config. My system reads the iBoot disk and begins
and displays header message, then stops.

From experience, does anyone know if booting from a USB CD/DVD connected
externally rather than a CD/DVD connected via internal sata could be my problem?

Another question - on inspecting the CD/DVD which has the disk image of iboot.iso
burned to it, what files should be present. The only file I see is "iBoot_2.6_tonymacx86.com.txt" at 1KB. though the disk size is 21.6 MB.

Thank you very much!

Good question...i know you can restore the SL Retail DVD to a USB thumb and choose this for installing. And there is a way also to do the same with iBoot...there is a Guide anywhere...try the search on tony's blog. The problem is, the usb port wouldn't recognized after swapping at the time no driver is loaded. A try is worth to use 2 USB ports with 2 USB devices connected at boottime. One with iBoot on it and the other with SL Reatail DVD. But i don't know if it'll work. Just give it a try and let us know

The answer for your other question...all files on iBoot are hidden beside that one you said

Re: *SOLVED* / iBoot Fails to Initialize

OK problem solved. I added an internal bluray burner/DVD connected via Sata and booted iBoot through this, rather than through an external USB CD/DVD (which was reading the .iso header but not executing).

Installation went like clock work after this.

Yes, guide says disconnect all peripherals other than keyboard/mouse, but since my bios had an option for booting from USB CD/DVD, thought I would try it, since my bluray had not yet arrived.

Now onto learning more about multibeast for graphics card & audio configuration.
Hopefully will have luck with the GTX 460 as I read about alot of freezing going on.
But SL booting up on its own and seems stable thus far.

Thank you much!
