[Solved] i7-6700k Frequency always at 4.2GHz

Hello all,

I've recently put together this hackintosh with the help of Stork's amazing Maximus Hero VIII guide. Everything appears to be working, though I have checked the CPU frequency with HWMonitor as well as Intels Power Gadget and they are showing the frequency at a constant 4.2GHz when idle. I installed the SSDT for my CPU as detailed in the guide, and was wondering if this were normal for the CPU? I don't particularly want it burning out on me after a little bit of use! Any help is greatly appreciated thanks

Nope that's not normal for a hackintosh where you want power management.. Mine is throttling down and up etc. Have you tried enabling the P and C States in Clover under /BOOT/? That shouldn't be needed when you use the SSDT, but if you try that and it works, then you'll know that you've done something wrong with the SSDT..

Thanks for the replies guys, though it seems to have fixed itself! Seems to always be at max on windows now though..
