Hi all,

I've been using El Capitan for a while now, and it never had any real issues. Now the time has come to update to High Sierra, however, I have not yet been successful in doing so. Whenever I try to boot using the installer, it reboots after the apple loading screen has come to about 2/3 of the loading bar. When I then boot back into El Capitan, it complains that there was a reboot due to a problem. When I press a key, it boots normally, without further anomalies.

Clover is updated to revision 4700, using clover configurator.

I have the following kexts installed in EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other :
FakeSMC.kext
IntelMausiEthernet.kext
USBInjectAll.kext
AppleALC.kext
Lilu.kext
WhateverGreen.kext

I am using the following boot options:
  1. Ai Overclock
    • AI Overclocker Tuner > X.M.P.
  2. Advanced Items
    • System Agent (SA) Configuration > VT-d > Disable
    • XHCI Handoff > Enabled
    • USB Configuration > Legacy USB Support > Auto
    • USB Configuration > XHCI Hand Off > Enabled
    • APM Configuration > Power on by PCI - E/PCI > Disabled
  3. Boot Menu
    • Fast Boot > Disabled
    • Boot Logo Display > Disabled
    • Secure Boot OS > Other OS
As per this tutorial: https://gist.github.com/unsalted/efa85c99d7bf7e00bebe639825362c77
El capitan boots without any problems using the above settings, and seems to work perfectly.
I've left config.plist as default. No manual changes.
After an unsuccessful boot of the installer, a kernel panic report shows in console:

After spending another few hours trying different things, the solution turned out to be flashing the bios. After a little tweaking with kexts (trying the IntelGraphicsFixup.kext) and several chaotic reboots (which seemed like hopeless crashes, where at one point clover seemed to have disappeared altogether), the system miraculously rebooted into a working version of High Sierra.
