[SOLVED] External Graphic Card.

Hello.

I'm using a notebook with Yosemite and want to use two external displays at home.
To my sorry the notebook has just one HDMI output which I guess is very common.
It also provides 3 USB 3.0 Ports and so I'm looking forward to buy an external graphic card.

I couldn't find a lot of information for external graphic cards on a hackintosh.
I was thinking of a HIS Multi-View II [1] which is at least compatible with mac.

I don't care if it's HDMI or DVI (digital). I also could live with VGA or upgrade to El Capitan
if this would bring me closer to a solution. But maybe it's not that big deal and someone
can give me an advice?

Try searching for some "Mac DisplayLink adapters". These are USB to video adapters and should do what you are looking to do.

Thank you, first I thought that would be something like thunderbolt to display port and my question was confusing. :'D
But well, that's exactly something like I'm looking for. Do you have experience with this DisplayLink adapters using a Hackintosh?

No, I have never personally used it, just read about it. Try to be sure to look for versions that use USB 3. There are some known issues when using it with Mavericks, Yosemite, and El Capitan that seems to have been corrected with the latest beta drivers. So, it's recommended that you go to www.displaylink.com to get those drivers.

The HIS MultiView II you mentioned is DisplayLink powered. I have an AOC monitor with DisplayLink technology that connects via USB 3.0, and it works perfectly. I'll echo pastrychef's advice about downloading the latest beta drivers from www.displaylink.com.

Oh perfect. Do you have experience with them on an hackintosh were they able to work?
Why the USB 3? Were there some issues with USB 2? Or is it just about something like Video Playback with 1080p?
Found some one used very cheap, haven't got any reply so far but I thought for office work it would be fine?

USB 3 has more than 10x the data rate as USB 2 - this is important when transferring video data.

Yes, I've used it with two of my hacks - with the Intel NUC and with my "daily driver". Screen refreshes seemed slightly sluggish on the NUC, which only has USB 2.0, though I haven't tried it in over a year so the drivers could have improved on that. It works well on USB 3.0 on my regular desktop for office-type work.

Yea well I know about the transfer rate, but I assumed when they say their adapter is able to support more than full hd via usb 2.0 that they are not talking about 1fps... I'm really thankful for your help, now I know what I can buy and try to get it work. Did you need some modification of the drivers or just installing the original drivers?
Would be so cool if this works. =)

I just installed them, rebooted, and the DisplayLink monitor worked.
