[Solved] audio via DP on Asus z97-a + GTX980

Hello everyone

I recently ran a fresh install of Sierra (10.12.6) on a rig sporting an asus z97-a mainboard and a GTX980 video card. I just changed the monitor for one that (believe it or not) has built-in speakers but no line-in jack connector... Just like a 2017 smartphone

Thus audio has to be transmitted via the HDMI or DP cable. I use a DP cable.

I installed ALC892 via multibeast 9.2.1 and I get audio from the line-out jack on the mainboard.

I cannot figure out how to get the audio to the speakers of the monitor, though.

This is probably quite trivial but could anyone help me out here?

I'm using DP, should I look into "/cloverHDMI" anyway?

Is there any way around that (in /OS X HDMI and/or DP audio support):

Before you begin

1. macOS does not provide HDMI/DP audio controls
   1. No volume, no mute, no balance, etc.
   2. Use the connected DP/HDMI device (TV, receiver, etc.)

Like maybe a companion app that would allow to have a slider or something to adjust DP audio volume (even better if it could be placed on the top bar).

No, 892 and HDMI audio are independent; one, the other or both. all work

How to use:
1. Download the script: audio_cloverHDMI.command
2. Mount EFI partition
3. Double-click the script, which will open in terminal
4. Answer y/n at the prompts
5. When script is done, reboot system

Was useful to me. Probably I'm very stupid but I didn't understand the proceedings when I 1st read your tutorial.
