[solved] Asus Vivobook Pro 17 N705U - Installer stuck at boot

patched with "Brightness Fix"
then saved to DSDT.aml

not working, do I have instead to use ACPIBacklight.kext???

the guide you followed is for El Capitan

you need to use the High Sierra guide:

yep!

things changed and the guide had to be changed to account for the change

(you may need to start off with a clean DSDT as the patch is no longer required)
 
Great progress today, just two things missing now, fn keys and brightness.

Do I need a kext for function keys?

yes, if you are patching your DSDT, you will need the following kext and also attached is some dsdt patches to make the brightness keys to work (the patches worked for me when i was patching dsdt)

Just adding the kext make the fn keys work because it was already patched for that :)

Now two more things, keyboard backlight and brightness controls...
 
Finally brightness is also working!!!

How many step the keyboard backlight do you have ?
