Is it possible to have this Apple A1379 disc drive work with a laptop?

When I plug it into my ASUS UX430 running Sierra, I get message "USB accessory needs power. Connect Apple USB SuperDrive to a USB port on this mac."

Maybe you didn't implement USB power properties?
