I had previously been able to use VoodooHDA 2.7.2 on Mac OS X Lion to get sound working on my laptop. After installing El Capitan 10.11.4, I used the VoodooHDA 2.8.8 .pkg from SourceForge and had working sound again.

After installing the 10.11.5 update, sound broke. When I tried to reinstall the .pkg, it showed it's incompatible with my operating system version and if I ignore the warning the install fails. Installing through Multibeast works, but gives the "No voodoohda devices found" error because the .kext doesn't load. I'm at the end of my knowledge. I'm using kext-dev-mode=1 boot flag.

Code:
27.06.16 22:47:54,000 kernel[0]: Can't load kext org.voodoo.driver.VoodooHDA - failed to resolve library dependencies.
27.06.16 22:47:54,000 kernel[0]: Kext org.voodoo.driver.VoodooHDA failed to load (0xdc00800e).
27.06.16 22:47:54,000 kernel[0]: Failed to load kext org.voodoo.driver.VoodooHDA (error 0xdc00800e).
27.06.16 22:47:54,000 kernel[0]: Couldn't alloc class "VoodooHDADevice"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hooray! I installed the ALC887/888b Legacy driver in MultiBeast and sound is working.

I now have the delay issue but I kind of fixed it by deleting com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist and com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist from /Library/Preferences/Audio and rebooting. iTunes Music works without delay but the volume change sound has a one to two second delay.
