The X79 chipset, cpus and motherboards have been released officially this morning. Highlights include 6 core (hexacore) options! Very high end- with bloated pricing.

wohoo :headbang: Looks very exciting!
How do you reckon the UEFI implementation will have for the hackintosh community? Does UEFI make it any easier to write a bootloader and patch things up or otherwise?

Looking forward to the performance reports these SB-E beasts can post :beachball: :p

Few Notes:

The high end CPU is actually only $50 more than the LGA1366 Intel Core i7-990X Extreme Edition which is also a Six-Core CPU.

The i7-3930K is an unlocked CPU.

The LGA2011 CPUs have the same Max TDP as LGA1366 CPUs, 130W.

None of the retail CPUs include an Intel cooler. They will be selling an air and water cooler separately.

The Xeon's listed are the single socket versions which will be supported on any X79 board.

Gigabyte is now using AMI for their BIOS on these boards just like everyone else uses on their Sandy Bridge boards. What this means is unknown at this time.

I'm liking the new BIOS more than anything. These boards/cpu's should have some great performance! Maybe now is the time for Apple to update their Mac Pro line ;)

This is awesome news! I can't wait until you guys do your thing on these bad boys, so I can start building one. Will definitely keep refreshing this page and the main blog page!

I have been using my little macbook and 775 build for my mac fix for a few months now, I might just jump on the 3930 right now.
