Dear forum,
recently, I got started with my first Customac. In the absence of a real Mac, I purchased Snow Leopard Retail DVD.
Instead of buying new hardware, I tried installation on my old gaming rig (specs in the signature; RX 470 not installed; only 1x8GB RAM installed).
Here is what worked so far:
According to this post, 10.6.8 is not needed to upgrade, but this information appears to be out-of-date; this Mac App Store update is necessary to download El Capitan, but is not offered on 10.6.7.
Any suggestions how I could proceed?

Here is what worked so far:
- Boot iBoot Ivy Bridge (since it's a Sandy Bridge CPU, but a Z77 board)
- Boot Snow Leopard DVD, start installer
- Install Snow Leopard 10.6.3 to 150 GB HDD partition
- Reboot (via iBoot CD)
- Update to 10.6.6 via DMG from Apple
- Update to 10.6.7 via DMG from Apple
- Install UpdateHelper
- Install EasyBeast and System Utilities via MultiBeast
- Sign into Mac App Store with Apple ID
- Download OS X El Capitan (when I click "Get", nothing happens)
- Boot into 10.6.8: Tried upgrading via DMG, but afterwards, I just get a black screen, although I followed the guide exactly
