I have 10.7.2 in a Z68MB. 2500K and 16 gigs RAM. Works great.
HD is a Patriot Pyro 120 gig that is supposed to have read and writes in excess of 500.
I am using MackMagic disk tests ( as others do for this test with much more success than me ) and am getting 120-130 write and 160-180 read.

I installed TRIM support from Multibeast and this did not help.

What could be the issue?

Some chipset SATA item I need to install from Multibeast?
Other ideas welcome.

This is supposed to be quite a fast SSD ( sata3 6gb/sec ) and I am just not seeing that.

Thanks for the help

Assuming your ssd is your boot drive and your home folder is on it:
In a terminal window:

time mkfile 4g ~/Downloads/test

:// make your calculations

time cp -p ~/Downloads/test ~/Downloads/test.2

:// make your calculations

Thanks. Both good timing methods.
I am seeing slow perfornace though with other tools, and wondering what could be the cause.

Blackmagic used to use compressible data which will give quite high numbers for most SSDs, since version 2.1, they have started to use incompressible data.

Maybe thats the cause.
What tool ( preferably free ) would be a better choice perhaps?
