Skylake-X/X299 and macOS Sierra 10.12 - [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Status
Not open for further replies.
1.) It worked with X99 under 10.12.6 and 10.13.... I see no reason why it should not work with X299
2.) I would definitely go for the ASUS! The best choice ever with respect to XCPM!
3.) o.k., perfect!
4.) I just bough the Corsair 760 T arctic white, because it accommodates a lot of SSDs and HDDs. You might fancier cases if you need less disk space though and mainly go for NVMe and SSD ;)

I hope this answers your questions ;)

Cheers,

KGP

Thank you very much for your support!
So I'll keep an eye on your future liquid cooling system ;)
About the motherboard, I have the chance of an MSI x299 XPower Gaming AC for a such a good price for saying no...
Probably I'll take one for sharing the experience with the community. In the worst case, I know that your Asus works smoothly.
Or probably I'll surrender to an equivalent of the MSI quoted, like some Asus ROG Rampage

I'll keep you updated.:beachball:

Thanks

Up and successfully running Skylake-X/X299 on macOS 10.12.6 Sierra!

Hello MasterKGP :)
1st: BIG HUGE THANK You for sharing your experience with X299
2nd: Sorry, some first posts were deleted cause my mistake - We should read forum rules... not 'only' fast click yes, accept etc ...
3rd point: I have 7900x (today stock, without OC) with Gigabyte Aorus Ultra Gaming
I configured my bios with your guide, then copy your EFI + nv_disable=1 (I have GTX 1070)
on my prepared 2 USB drives :)
It's much better than before (after my 'almost' 60h of tests for nothing)
but still some errors :p and still I can't Install Sierra...
so...

1st screen = boot and screen stopped for 10 sec - we can say 'everything is ok'
then 2nd screeen = 3s.. and PC restart

PS: 1x 960evo connected and 1x Sata Xyz SSD...
Scarlet 2i4 discoonnected
and nothing else... :)

and 2nd screen

Thank you for help if you have some ideas :)
Have a nice day!

Did you enable KernelPM? EFI installed on your boot drive?

Wait until the final release of my guide... It is a question of on to three more days... I am working hard on it... I will upload a new EFI-folder with the new release ... then hopefully problems will minimise

Hi MasterKGP :)
So Yes it was enabled and EFI Installed.
I tried with nv_disable (thinking about my gpu)
but most important was : boot with cpus=1 and without ..
and I tried with and without Intel Speed Shift Technology (Enabled or Disabled)
and I have the same problem like TwixQ but i have a Kernel Version 16.7.0 and TwixQ have 16.0.0

PS: Should we use the same CPUID for me and TwixQ?
He have - 7820x and I have 7900X

Have a nice day guys!
And I hope together we will find our solution soon - for all of us :)
