The Build
I should of got a 500w+ power supply instead of the EVGA 430 watt PSU. I am using an existing LED TV w/ HDMI input as my monitor. I'm also sing my spare 256GB SSD from my Mid 2012 Retina MBP with an adapter to SATA (Sourcingbay 2012 MacBook Air SSD To SATA Adapter For Apple MacBook Air MID/Pro).

Installation

First MultiBeast Run
Quick Start -> UEFI Boot Mode
Drivers -> Audio -> Realtek ALCxxx -> 100 Series Audio
Drivers -> Misc -> FakeSMC v6.18-313… (pre-selected)
Drivers -> Misc -> FakeSMC Plugins v6.18-313…
Drivers -> Misc -> FakeSMC HWMonitor Application v6.18-313…
Drivers -> Network -> Realtek -> RealtekRTL8111 v2.2.1
Drivers -> USB -> Increase Max Port Limit (based on recommendations in the USB Fixes thread)
Bootloaders -> Clover v2.3k r3423 UEFI Boot Mode (pre-selected)
Customize -> Graphics Configuration -> Intel HD 530
Customize -> System Definitions -> iMac -> iMac 17,1 (as recommended in this thread: “If using integrated graphics, select iMac/iMac17,1. At present, this is the only Apple model with a Skylake chip.”)

Second MultiBeast Run
Drivers -> Audio -> Realtek ALCxxx -> ALC887/888b
Drivers -> Audio -> Realtek ALCxxx -> Optional HD 3000/HD 4000/ HD 530 HDMI Audio

So far so good, no HDMI Audio though. Currently just using the read 3.5mm Jack.

After running MultiBeast, the only thing I noticed so far was my RAM was only showing as 4gb / 4gb = 8gb instead of 16gb. After some searching, I re made a UniBeast USB, configured the SMBIOS in Clover Config and added them manually. Registers now :)

UPDATE** Sleep/wake was broken when using Mechanical HDD, the Apple SSD is the only thing I changed and it now somehow works..?

Please no case mod discussion in this thread, only system components. There is a Mod Case forum section for Mac case modifications including the G5. So, please post any case modifications and/or questions there of in the PowerMac G5 form section. TIA.

Very interesting build. Well done! :)

I hope more people pick up on the fact that using a genuine Apple SSD as opposed to a conventional SATA drive (mechanical or otherwise - mine is an SSD) cures the Sleep/Wake problem. This has been one of those problems many have suffered from (including me) and maybe hints that the answer lies not in the other parts of the build (graphics, bluetooth, ethernet etc) but in the SATA path.

Not wishing to disturb an obviously working build, but did you ever try with a MacPro3,1 system definition? Since 10.11.4 we are told HD 530 graphics are now catered for so perhaps there is not the need to use iMac17,1 which might (only *might*) be affecting the sound over HDMI ? Just a thought. Don't go ruining anything!

Hi DXS,

I was wondering if you could test to see if you can get your system to boot using only the Intel 530 with 2 monitors.

It would be amazing if the sleep/wake and dual monitor boot issues on the 530 were solved with a Mac SSD.

Cheers.

Hey there,

I got the same mobo and was wondering if you'd be willing to elaborate on the steps you took to the point of getting the OSX installer running. I've been trying to follow the offical El Cap guide on this site, but my machine hangs at the Apple logo with progress bar before I can get to the install UI.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

it seems that you use DDR4_4 and DDR4_2 slot for memory. They have different colors.
Better using memory slots with same color.

Hi,

I just got the same motherboard but I'm having the same issue as you. I get the Apple logo and progress bar, and that's it! Were you able to fix the issue?

Thanks!
