I have a Lenovo ThinkStation D20 with 2x X5650 CPUs, 96GB RAM, a Quadro 2000 video card, and a 240GB HyperX Predator M.2 PCIe SSD drive.

Using the http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-install-macos-sierra-hackintosh-on-pc-guide/ instructions as a guide, I was able to get Sierra installed to the SSD without any real issues. However, about 50% of the time while booting off the USB, the system would freeze during bootup.

After successfully installing Sierra to the SSD, I simply cannot boot the OS through from the SSD. 100% of the time, the system freezes at the exact same spot that it would freeze while booting from USB. I have tried to search for the previous lines in the log to try to get some help debugging with no success. I have tried all the typical boot flags with no success (nv_disable, PCIRootUID, npci, GraphicsEnabler, -x/f/v). Yet it continues to freeze at the exact same spot every time.

The boot sequence freezes after 12+ variants of this line:

Code:
AppleUSBHostResources@: AppleUSBHostResources::allocateDownstreamBusCurrentGated: assuming successful wakeUnits 500 sleepUnits 0

I can't tell if it's freezing after this step, or before the next step. I've also dabbled a bit with trying to modify/add kexts, but I'm not sure what I'm doing.

Here's a photo of my frozen boot when trying to run off the SSD that OSX installed to. I successfully installed OSX to my PCIex SSD without any problems, so the system seems to boot and run fine. As per my link in the first post, I am trying to install Sierra.

I also wanted to point out that when I was installed OSX, my NVMe SSD drive showed up in Disk Utility without any special configuration.

I was able to get my Hackintosh working, but only by trying El Capitan instead of Sierra.

I was never able to boot up into an installed version of Sierra, no matter where I installed it. Whether I installed it to the internal SSD or even a separate external USB, nothing worked. However, with El Capitan, I was able to install to a separate USB drive, and then boot into the OS from that USB drive. Once I was booted into the OS, I was able to follow these instructions to boot from the internal SSD (to which I was able to install El Capitan to fine, just not boot from it).

So, I might have to resort to booting into my Hackintosh through an external USB for the remainder of its life, but I think I'll be ok with that for now.

What are your BIOS settings on your Thinkstation S20, been trying to install Sierra but had no luck, just wanted to confirm and make sure my bios settings are right on par. I have the options for sata to AHCI, disabled VT-D, are there any other settings that need to be turned off or enabled? Any help is much appreciated!

I can confirm I have a working Mojave install with audio and network on a D20 with 24 GB RAM. I will post my EFI folder and Bios settings if anyone needs them.

Something important.... I installed Clover to the USB installer and then immediately afterwards to the HD when 'stage 2' of the install begins... I don't know if it made a difference, otherwise I had the same issue: Installation completed and boot failed.

Can you please post your BIOS settings and upload your EFI folder if possible. Been having problems trying to install High Sierra.

Update: Got it! I just created a new flash drive. But now I have no internet and graphic issues.
