Hey guys.

I was bored the other day and decided to try to get Sierra running on an old PC i hardly used anymore.

Specs:
CPU: i5-750 (Lynnfield lga 1136)
Mobo: Intel DP55WG
RAM: 8GB (4GBx2) Patriot G2 Series 1333MHz
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 5750 512MB

I made the bootable USB, plugged in a spare hard drive and booted the PC.

I got to Clover, so far so good, and booted into the MacOSX install from USB with -v and -x

As soon as the installer gets past the initial "MAC Framework successfully initialised", text flies by pretty fast until it hangs on the line:

"Waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID="2">boot-uuid-media</string></dict>"

And after a while, I get the prohibited sign along with the line:

"Still waiting for root device"

By this point, the activity LED on my USB is no longer flashing.

As a side note, after I created the USB installer with Unibeast, I mounted the EFI partition to copy over FakeSMC.kext, but there was no 10.12 folder. There was up to 10.11 and "other", so I just created a 10.12 and put the kext in there.

Could anyone help me with this? For reference I've attached my config.plist

You should create your USB Stick with this method when you are using UEFI: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/

Please update your personal details and fill in your specs that you can get better support in the future.

Sorry, personal details updated.

I'm not actually using UEFI. I am using legacy mode with Clover, and my motherboard's "support UEFI OS's" option is disabled, due to the recommendation on the official Sierra installation guide to use legacy mode with 5-Series boards.

Should I try using UEFI?

Has your motherboard UEFI support? When not you must use legacy. Please post your EFI/Clover folder and delete themes and compress alll that as zip.

Yes, my motherboard does have UEFI support, but when I read in the installation guide that legacy mode was recommended for 5-series motherboards, I turned off UEFI mode and installed legacy mode Clover with Unibeast.

I've attached my EFI/CLOVER folder (without themes)

Maybe it could be a good idea to try another bootloader like chameleon bootloader.

No bootloader will help him, i5 750 is incompatible with OS X, Mac OS.

macOS Sierra requires CPUs with SSE4 support.
Intel Core i5-750 has SSE4 support, so I don't see the problem.

His graphics card won't work either.
