So I reckoned this was gonna happen sometime.

My Sierra system has updated into build number 16G1710, but the Nvidia web driver seems to have not been released yet. (the 16G1818 version is not compatible).

Does anyone know if the compatible version is due to be released any time soon?

Thank you.

Please update your motherboard, CPU and graphics card information in your Personal Details as stipulated by the rules of this forum.

You will have to wait until Nvidia releases a new version of the web driver for the new Sierra build installed by the Sierra Security Update 2018-006. May be soon, may be longer.

Personally I don't want to deal with this issue, and it is the reason why I only use natively supported GPUs in my systems, such as RX 580 / GTX 760 / GTX 660 / HD 7870.

Edit : Apparently a new version of the web driver for the new Sierra build has been released. Get it.

Gives me the same error. It says it's not compatible.
This is caused by having the wrong driver for your installed build of macOS.

Find out your build number and then get the right driver.
  1. Open up About This Mac
  2. Click where it says 10.12.5 or 10.12.6, etc.
  3. This will display your build number
  4. Download the right driver for your build

Thank you, I didn't know you could see the build number by clicking it. I ended up finding my build number in System Report, under software. And I did get the Nvidia Web Drivers and full acceleration working. Thanks again.

When new System update comes up please wait a few day before Nvidia releases updated drivers for the updated system release. This way you will be safe to update both system and nvidia drivers at the same time.
