Hello, I was really interested in installing OSX on my computer.

However, I only have 1 HD and it already has Windows on it, (1TB, ~200GB free).

My question was if it would be wise to install OSX on a partition on the same drive? Can this cause problems for my existing Windows install?

Thank you

Depends on what you want!

If you want to keep Windows, it's very easy to partition in half, to keep the windows install, and have Mac.

If you just want Mac, I'd recommend backing up your data, and nuking the whole drive, and fresh installing Mac OS X on it.

All comes down to what you want really...

Wise? IMHO, no. Having Windows sharing a drive with another OS can be a real :banghead: when it comes time to upgrade either one.

Is it possible? That really depends on how you installed Windows to begin with. See http://www.tonymacx86.com/multi-booting/133940-mavericks-windows-8-same-drive-without-erasing.html . Problems discussed here apply to Windows and any version of OS X.

Really recommend you purchase another drive, SSD if at all possible.
