Guys, I'm really sorry that I was inactive the past few weeks. University keeps me very busy, especially during the exams.
I have to admit that I had to switch back to Windows... After a few minutes of usage Mac OS would get slow. And by slow I mean really slow. Windows runs fine on the hardware and reinstalling OSX didn't fix it either.
I will check back on OSX in approx. 4 weeks and try out the new BIOS updates (F8 release and F9a beta) but for now I need a 100% stable running machine, even if it's with Windows.
 
Recently updated to 10.9.2 and no issues were displayed.

Sorry to hear about the problems you're having. You and I have very similar setups. I recently updated to the F8 bios and I do recommend you do the same. It's helped lock down haswell support, power management, and speedstep.

Updated to F8 BIOS today, no problems so far. I won't put my hands on F9 beta in the near future. I will install 10.9.2 after my last exams (~4 weeks from now).
 
I'm having issues with sleep not working on this board.

Whenever I go to sleep, it wakes up within 1 second, then it comes on with no display unless i press a button and tries to go to sleep again. If I at any point press a button, the display comes back.

Wake up reason is listed as XHC.

I have tried: Unplugging everything except monitor cable. This includes mouse, keyboard, ethernet. Still happens.
BIOS wake on lan is DISABLED.

Happens in both F7 and F8 BIOS.

Any more tips for what I can try?

To me it looks like a USB device is waking the computer up again, but I have no usb devices attached. So could it be a faulty USB hub on the motherboard?
 
Hey there, I guess we have a very similar built, and here's my experience:

I installed everything like you described, everything worked perfectly with 2x8GB. no random freezes, nothing. just perfect. than I updated to 4x8 GB and the freezing started. I took 1x 8GB ram out and run the system with 3x8GB now. everything works perfectly again, no freezing, very solid system.

so I guess it's about the ram. do you have any idea how to solve the problem?
 
Are both your sets of 2x8GB memory sticks the same manufacturer make & model #?

Is the BIOS XMP parameter set to Default?

Make sure your memory is on Gigabyte's list of supported memory

It seems that Haswell requires newer memory, like the PSUs, due to it's tolerance for memory specifications.

I have to roll F9a and F8 back to F8m because of freezes. In fact, I almost forgot what freezes were. When F8 and F9a freezes were reintroduced, it took me a while to realize what was causing it. Almost caused a panic...
