Ok so I install my realtek ethernet driver per instructions of Tony's guide. Once installed it does find the ethernet in network prefs. When using dhcp though it says that it has a self assigned IP and cant connect to the internet. So I then prceed to enter everything in manually, it then goes to green and says connect, but i still can't connect to the internet. i run diagnostics and it says that im connect but with no net access. I've tried everything I can tell you that its not the router or the computer. I'm thinking its a kext issue. I have googled the self assigned ip problem and it does lead me to believe that it lies within the kext. any help on this issue would be great
thanks

have you solved this one? Because the problem you describe with the Realtek ethernet matches the problems I am having on an otherwise perfect install...

Is the Bonjour Software update necessary after updating to 10.6.2 ?

Would glad to hear of anyone else that has solved Realtek ethernet problems using Tonymac's install guide...
