just applied the security update and lost my NUC6 with Sierra which was working pretty fine..
For a while I could login with -x but not anymore since I updated lilu.kext and AppleALC.kext with kextbeast.
Not sure what to do now? how could I update clover when I only can start in single user mode now?
Machine is freezing at "IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLockState 3

Sierra 10.12.6 - After Security Update:

Booted to a black screen after Clover... Tried using Clover to access drive but no go. Luckily I have a clone of my boot drive albeit a 6+ month old version. Was able to boot using old clone and access current (Sierra 10.12.6) drive's EFI partition and updated the below.

The fix - EFI-->CLOVER-->kexts-->Other:
  • Replace Lilu.kext with the latest version
  • Replace NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext with the latest version
After reboot Nvidia web updater notifies there's a web graphic's driver update. Updated and rebooted! All good now!

OK, so the security update bricked my XPS 9560 that was running great. Still not working, but I got past the kernel panic by updating lilu.

So far, what I've done is:

Add
Code:
-liluoff
to boot arguments (after darkwake=0, etc)
System boots but no display, etc. I am able to ssh in and do anything via command line... so I used scp to copy updated versions of Lilu, AppleALC, IntelGraphicsFixup, NvidiaGraphicsFixup, CoreDisplayFixup, and USBInjectAll in /Volumes/NO NAME/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/.

Then I updated kext cache with
Code:
sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions/ && sudo kextcache -u /

It still won't boot to desktop, but it doesn't kernel panic anymore. Am I missing something? Or do I need to update more kexts?

Here is everything I have in /Volumes/NO NAME/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/

Any ideas? @RehabMan ?

Found a way to restore my NUC6 after security patch. Boot with a Unibeast Sierra stick, add -liluoff and then boot my drive. I get into the desktop without accelerated graphics and sound. Install latest Clover and move IntelGraphics and RealtecALC kexts to desktop and install with kextbeast. Now working as before the security update!

I'm having a bad time with this security update. Been happily running 10.12.6 for quite some time. The machine is a GB H270-WIFI with a KabyLake 7400, Intel 630. The security update installed and then the machine started KP and boot looping. After dual booting to linux, I installed the latest (1.2.2) lilu.kext to C/E/O. Machine still wouldn't boot and I suspected I probably had lilu in L/E. I booted from my original install USB stick and removed the lilu.kext from L/E. Machine then booted to about 80% (which is usually where I would see a little flicker and the graphics driver would kick in) and went to a black screen. I could access it via remote desktop and I installed the latest AppleALC and IntelGraphicsFixup kexts to L/E. I also installed the latest FakeSMC to C/E/O. Since then, I've never been able to boot it fully again, whether in safe mode or whatever. It always seems to be related to the graphics. A normal try at booting will see it hang at that 80% mark. Doing a verbose boot shows the "IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLockState 3" as the last thing on the screen.

I've tried to revert back to the state where I at least could remote desktop back into it, but haven't been able to get it to there again. I've tried all kinds of combinations of things in Clover, but to no avail. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I wish I could at least boot it into safe mode so I could experiment more. Right now I can get into single user mode and do some stuff, but nothing that seems to help. Seems like the steps I have taken should have cleared this up based on what I've read in this thread. Any ideas?

Could anyone help?

I got a new Zotac GTX 750TI now 2. Monitors connected via DVI everything works fine.

After all the problems i read about the security update. Might it be wiser to go from sierra 10.12.5 directly to high sierra?
thx

Hmmm... but would that be easier then? I would just like to go the upgrade path - because I have a fully installed workstation-system.

It seems that really nobody in this thread had a seamless install/upgrade without issues - everybody had to updates certain kexts or broke their systems complete and so on - and nobody could really say like "THIS is the provided general update-solution" i this particular case. :(

Leaves a lot of us behind with vulnerable systems & very unsure which way to go from here.... !?
