Hi,

I just read that High Sierra has a new feature called "Secure Kernel Extension Loading" which is supposed to prohibit third party kexts to load.
In the Preferences you can disable that feature so it won't be too much of a concern for us I guess.

What I found in heise.de - a major german IT news and magazine publicist seems more disturbing.
https://www.heise.de/forum/Mac-i/Ne...-sind-KEXTs-Geschichte/posting-30586874/show/

I'm sorry this is german only but I try to summarize. This guy's colleagues were at WWDC 2017 and they stated that third party kexts in 10.14 willl be history. Apple is going to block ALL third party kexts and you will have to contact Apple in order to get allowance for your kext.

Does anybody have any more information on that topic? Sounds to me that Hackintoshing on 10.14+ will might get far more difficult or maybe even impossible?

Edit:
Sorry for that double post. Feel free to remove it. Searching for Secure Kernel Extension Loading did not bring the following thread up:

Start moving away from extra kexts now maybe.

FakeSMC kext is necessary to boot macOS on PC hardware. How can booting with Clover still work without it ?
