I searched the forums and there's a known issue with a black screen during boot, but that's not what's happening to mine.

I have an i7-5820k with an NVIDIA GTX 960 and an ATI R9 280X running macOS Sierra. Both are computing OpenCL.

Everything has run fine for months, but recently on rare occasion I would find it with a black screen. The monitor power button shines blue like it is connected to an active input (as opposed to amber when it is not or when it goes to sleep).

Tapping on keys (like when you try to wake your machine) does nothing.

Usually it worked again if I rebooted, but today it's happening repeatedly. During boot I get about 5 seconds of viewing before it goes black. When I swap the HDMI cable from one card to the other it sometimes gives me another 5 seconds each time.

I tried running the AGP patch again just in case, but that didn't help either.

I'd appreciate any help.

I'm not sure, but it seems to be chugging along behind the black screen other than the fact that I can't see it.
