Has anyone managed to solve what I think is a resolution change during the boot process to Yosemite? mid way through the loading process from the apple logo, the screen turns black then turns back on and I can see the login screen, (much like when a game or other software changes the screen resolution). My current settings are:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1920x1080x32</string>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>HDAEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>HDEFLayoutID</key>
<string>01000000</string>
<key>Hide Partition</key>
<string>hd(1,2) hd(1,3) hd(2,4)</string>
<key>IGPEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>kext-dev-mode=1 nvda_drv=1</string>
<key>Legacy Logo</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Timeout</key>
<string>2</string>
<key>UseKernelCache</key>
<string>Yes</string>
</dict>
</plist>

A while ago my screen would change to a grey fuzzy static, rather than black, and I remember I changed something and it fixed the fuzziness, but brought about the black screen (which makes me think there must be a fix for the black screen too).

Some more info that might be important but idk:

My graphics card is a nVidia GeForce 960 and is connected to my monitor via DVI cable.
I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 (14F1509).

Sorry if this has already been solved or if I'm missing any important info (I'm still knew to Hackintoshing).

This is normal behavior for Maxwell GPUs. I believe it is the moment when the Nvidia Web drivers are initialized and it switches from the basic VESA mode that the GPU is running in without drivers loaded. Cards that are natively supported by OS X do not exhibit this behavior.

Ohh, yeah that makes sense haha. I only wondered cus I've been trying for ages to make this build looks as legit as possible and this was a minor annoyance haha. Oh well, at least now I can stop searching everywhere for an answer haha. Thanks for the response :)

Hello, I have similar problem here but I'm using on board HD4600 in El Capitan (DVI connection). Loading quarter bar then flashing black a second (followed by popping sound from speakers) and continued loading till finish. The popping sound only heard loud when turn on the computer for the first time, and disappear when restart mode. I tried to check what was the issue by doing verbose mode but can't see anything because it run too fast (using ssd). Any advise?

Is the sound similar to the noise you hear when plugging an auxiliary cable into a sound device while the speakers are turned up really loud? That's strange, I cant say I've seen anything similar. Does the sound continue after the black screen or only when it's black?

Exactly! It happened only when the screen went black.

That sounds like it is just the drivers loading and audio initializing.

Is there any way to make it not like that? I mean, normal booting process should run smoothly without any sound and temporary black screen, right?

Have you tried turning the volume down on the speakers? As the other user said this usually only happens when the volume is turned up really loud.

Yes I could, but that's not resolve the source problem. Anyway, what about the black screen?
