Samsung 970 500GB M.2 SSD speed tanked. any ideas what could cause this to drop to about 20% of the original speed?
I used to get a little over 2GB-1.5GB per sec writes on this SSD when it was new. I have the same one in my Mac Pro and it is still getting me a solid 1.5GB/sec
Now when I run BMD speed test I get write speed that bursts up to about 2.5GB and then after about a second or 2 falls down to about 600mb/s The write speed however stays at a steady 2249mb/s for the most part. every once in a while I get an odd one that drops down to about 920mb/s on the read side.
does anyone know why this would occur and is there anyway to fix it? Do I have a bad SSD? it is only about 3-4 months old.
Update : I let BMD Disk speed test run for about an hour and came back and the write speed has dropped to 566 and read to 738
[SOLVED]
I just got mine back from RMA and so far so good. according the the work order in the return it was a firmware upgrade!
