Background:
Built this system to replace my older 1156 system (Asus P7P55D/ i5 750).
Didn't really feel the need to upgrade, the i5 750 did everything I wanted it to.
However, there were two issues: 1) I had the upgrade itch, and 2) I was offered a deal on the P8P67 Deluxe I couldn't refuse.
Choosing the parts
As I had been offered a great deal on the board, I then needed to get a cpu to match.
The graphics card would be transferred from the old build, so that was sorted.
With the CPU I gave myself one brief: it can't have less cores than the old one.
I don't overclock; haven't done since I had a Q6600. Don't see the need anymore.
For resale values, however, I decided that getting the 2500K would be best as I could overclock if I ever changed my mind, it had 4 cores, and the resale values would be probably the strongest out of the sandy bridge lineup.
i have had this setup (bar the case finished) since October. Things have slightly changed, but this is how it stands today.
GFX card works OOB, so does the wireless card. Ummm....
Note on Power Management - ASUS
Don't need to use nullcpu or a patched AICPU as the bios has been patched.
