Background:
Built this system to replace my older 1156 system (Asus P7P55D/ i5 750).
Didn't really feel the need to upgrade, the i5 750 did everything I wanted it to.
However, there were two issues: 1) I had the upgrade itch, and 2) I was offered a deal on the P8P67 Deluxe I couldn't refuse.

Choosing the parts
As I had been offered a great deal on the board, I then needed to get a cpu to match.
The graphics card would be transferred from the old build, so that was sorted.
With the CPU I gave myself one brief: it can't have less cores than the old one.

I don't overclock; haven't done since I had a Q6600. Don't see the need anymore.
For resale values, however, I decided that getting the 2500K would be best as I could overclock if I ever changed my mind, it had 4 cores, and the resale values would be probably the strongest out of the sandy bridge lineup.

i have had this setup (bar the case finished) since October. Things have slightly changed, but this is how it stands today.
GFX card works OOB, so does the wireless card. Ummm....

I wont bore you with the basics, but here's an example of my MultiBeast settings.

MultiBeast v4.1.0 Configuration

Note on Power Management - ASUS
Don't need to use nullcpu or a patched AICPU as the bios has been patched.
Patched bioses are available here

ASUS 1155 BIOS Repository for native Power Management

Using that, I get 8 PStates

Case is a G5 PowerMac, more info here Casemod thread

Great Builds description! Need more P67 builds in the Golden Builds. Hopefully, you'll inspire others.

Hey man - GREAT build! Would like your opinion on something:

We've got a lot of build-it-yourself stores around Dallas, but no one seems to have an ASUS P8P67 Deluxe. I **did** find a ASUS P8P67 EVO - it looks to be almost exactly like your mobo (dual GigE, etc) by the specs I'm reading.

Think it would be a good candidate to use same/similar settings & CustomDSDT like you did with your build?

THANKS!

Re: samisnake's P8P67 Deluxe - 2500K - 5770 - G5 Build

thanks.

you might wanna consider the z68 counterparts of the same boards, p8z68-v pro/deluxe/evo etc, but as for your question, the evo and deluxe are almost identical. the only difference is the extra vrms on the deluxe.

the evo would be identical to my build setup. different dsdt of course, but other than that itd be the same.
hope that helps

Thanks for the compare chart on Deluxe vs. Evo etc. I wasn't sure about the P67 vs. Z68 & if that would be a radically different process than what you experienced. One of my favorite places here (MicroCenter) had nothing but Z68s... however, most of what they had on the shelf had on-board graphics (which I don't need). So that's why I opted for the P67 EVO from Fry's. BUT...if you think the Z68 would be a better board & similar process, then I may see about taking this one back. :)

I DEFINITELY appreciate all the info you shared in your post. The MultiBeast screen grab for starters...and the link on the "roll your own" DSDT. Keep fingers crossed...touch wood, etc! :)

there isnt actually much between the p67 and z68. the z68 is the p67 and h67 chipsets combined.
if you dont need the graphics outputs, and the smart response (ssd caching, kind of pointless) then stick with what you have.

i had the p8z68-v pro for a month or so, could of swapped it out with my p67, but decided against it. didnt see it as an upgrade. however, the install process with those boards is again pretty much the same

Dear samisnake I must say that I am very impresed by your build, it looks beautiful congratulations.
I am completly new in the hackintosh world and I`ve been reading a lot on how to start a build,my problem: after I change the Iboot disc for the OSX 10.6 one I get the panic screen. Since I have almost the same hardware as you, I please ask you to give me some tips maybe a guide you followed, a link, whatever that could help me I would apreciate.
Thanks for your time and help.

sikus,
samisnake's post is a build description, not necessarily a guide which you're looking for. Another of our Mods has a great, step-by-step guide for his P8P67 which will help you: viewtopic.php?f=168&t=26911
