[RX580/msi z390-a Pro/Intel i5] Catalina - Black screen after successful boot

Hi everyone, Im encountering the same issue i was having when I first updated to Catalina.
I recently swapped out my MOBO, Memory and Storage (bringing old macos ssd right over), it took me a while to get it configured, but now I'm back to the issue where the apple logo and progress bar gets about half way before some glitchy artifacts (pink lines), then the fans speed up for half a second before going back to idle, while the screen stays black (no input signal)

everything else seems to be working cause I can hear the little error sound at the login. Anyone with this MOBO experienced with this problem? What fixed it for you? Will update thread with anything I find

Mobo: MSI z390-A Pro
Ram: 32gb DDr4 3200hz
CPU: Intel i5 9400f
GPU: Saphire RX580
