I tried that and it crashed my computer. I don't think it's a driver issue rather than something causing the kext to not load from time to time. what do you think?

Looking at it logically, if it worked under Lion can you go back to Lion and confirm it works reliably again ?

Other options would be :
Reseat the RAID card
Reseat the cables
Try the RAID card in a different slot
Flash the RAID Card BIOS - http://www.highpoint-tech.cn/usa/bios_rr2310.htm
Replace the RAID card

VERY VERY interesting thoughts. I never thought the card would be faulty. I will check the cable and going back to Lion. I kept a drive with Lion on it. Thanks. I'm actually considering to get a 500G SSD to compensate for the drive.
