So, this one is causing me to tear out my hair...

Click here for my base system (although it's been tweaked a little now and has 10.11.2 on it..) I'm still running OSMOSIS as my boot loader, and I'm still keeping the BIOS settings as they were in the original post. Additionally, I'm now booting from a single 4TB drive, so no RAID0 boot problems right now.

Installed a Rocket Raid 2720SGL a few weeks ago, and installed the latest kexts from Highpoint (Big Mistake). I was met with so many freaking errors and kernel panics that I gave up and did a completely clean install of 10.11.2.

My user folder is on a 12 TB RAID 0 connected to the Rocket Raid. Occasionally, I can't log in to it, suggesting that the raid isn't coming up in time.

Things went fine until I installed the web management GUI, then I'm back to this:

So, does anyone have any suggestions?

My BIOS settings are the same as they were. Nothing else has changed.

I get the panic for the first few attempts at booting, THEN it boots.

Update:

Removed the Web GUI package and everything is peachy again. I would recommend anyone considering this card stays a LONG WAY away from the drivers from HighPoint, instead preferring the built-in support in 10.10 and 10.11 onwards.

Will keep you all up to date with progress as time goes on.

Have the same problems with the Web GUI package. Found out earlier under Yosemite that in my case it was related to the usage of sas drives for the raid. With sata drives i was able to use the WebGUI, haven't tried it in ElCap.

So this gets weirder and weirder.

SAS drives now working fine (after I deleted the WebGUI and installed a new, clean OS). After some juggling of the internal cabling, I connected three SATA drives to the card too, and arranged them in an 8GB RAID 5 array. But while the BIOS would let me create the drive array, it didn't actually want to format the thing.

The only way to do that was with the WebGUI.

So I reinstalled the WebGUI under the premise that I could always repeat the steps above to get it stable. But actually, the thing is super rock-solid now, and both the SAS 12GB RAID 0 and 8GB SATA RAID 5 are fine...

Go figure..:/
