Hello,
I use a Laptop HP Probook 4530s with Mountain Lion as a production system and it works very fine.
Since I changed my Harddisk with a SSD I'm not able to restart my system. Only normal start and shutdown is possible.

I've tried to reinstall chimera in different versions und tried to correct permissions, but nothing function.
I eliminated one failure with "sudo chown admin:root /" but that soluted not my restart problem. But my Kext Cache failure is eliminated.

I've made some Screenshots may it helps someone.
There are three Screenshots for restarting my computer and 9 Screenshots normal booting. I've tried to find a logfile but I only find my system.log.

Here my Log-File:

I eliminated one failure with "sudo chown admin:root /" but that soluted not my restart problem
....

Not a good idea...

You should do a fresh install following the guide...

Hello, I've read Installing Guide, here is written Chimera as Bootloader
http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-probook/77057-guide-installing-mountain-lion-hp-probook-38.html

But I had a Hardware change, may this is a problem?

I don't want to reinstall, because I need to work with my Laptop.
So I could make a clone of my Laptop and try to re-patch DSDT.
BIOS updates/hardware upgrades

If you ever make a hardware change or update the BIOS, you should re-patch your DSDT. See this thread: DSDT patch: HP ProBook 4x30s (4330, 4430, 4530, 4730) patches -- Updated and this thread for a guide using MacIASL: Patching your DSDT ProBook 4x30s using MaciASL

You can also re-patch your DSDT using the ProBook Installer. Follow these instructions

1. Remove /Extra/dsdt.aml. If you have a high-resolution screen and 6-series chipset, install Mini-SSDT-DualLink.aml to /Extra/ssdt-1.aml. Then reboot. If you have a high-resolution screen and 7-series chipset, be sure to use boot flags "IGPEnabler=N GraphicsEnabler=N -x". After reboot, you are running without a DSDT (no audio, WiFi, battery, etc)
2. Run ProBook Installer and select only the DSDT options you did before in step 14.
3. Allow the ProBook Installer to create your DSDT, then reboot.

Should this solute my problem?

Thanks for help

A typo. Fixed. On the ProBook we use Chameleon or Clover.

It is unlikely a change from HDD to SSD will cause a change in DSDT.

I think you have issues that will be difficult to recover from. Recommend a fresh install.

Hi,
thanks a lot for you help.

I was using the terminal app und ounmount disk0s1 and reformatted it.
Then I installed Chemeleon latest Version.

So now I boot over Chameleon and when I make a restart the failure Boot Device Not Found doesn't comes on screen :headbang:

But now I got a failure message: no network connection instead :banghead:

But Mac is also running well and fast and all is function.
Only restart doesn't function

I don't want to make all the installations again

Hello,
this is my screen after restart.

screen-no-network.png

Maybe I will reformat disk0s1 again and then delete DSDT.aml and shut down.
Then I start with USB und reinstall DSDT and BOOTLOADER with HP Probook Installer 6.1.pkg

Maybe this function, or do you have an idea?
Thanks a lot

Check your BIOS boot settings to see if they make sense.

And check your boot records...

Dump all the boot records and check for active partition:
Code:
sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk0 of=/tmp/mbr count=1 bs=512
xxd</tmp/mbr|tail
sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk0s2 of=/tmp/pbr count=1 bs=512
xxd</tmp/pbr|tail
sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk0s2 of=/tmp/pbr count=2 bs=512
xxd</tmp/pbr|tail
# all of above should end in 55aa
sudo fdisk /dev/rdisk0
# mac partition should be marked with '*'

Hi There,

I have come across a bit of information related to the topic of this post which I would like to share with all those who might come across this type of error/situation. I'm not a technical person myself but know a bit to search enough on the net for a solution. Fortunately it was a pure coincidence that I happen to come across a solution which could be helpful to most encountering the same...

Problem:
While performing an upgrade or any System modification the ProBook stops booting and displays the message Boot Device Not Found. see image (taken from another post). This occurred to me when I updated Mavericks from 10.9.2 to 10.9.4. But I read this has happened as well under many different circumstances ...

BootScreen.jpg

Diagnosis:
What actually happened, which was mentioned in several posts without an effective solution, was that the EFI partition became inactive and no longer bootable, even though partition management apps show the partition as bootable.
Sadly, I have read many, many posts which recommend re-installation, re-formating, even dumping the HDD itself. Although I knew if I made this partition active the system would boot, I simple could not find a way to do it until I read the post "Install Bootloader and Extra to EFI Partition" which included simple steps to activate the EFI partition.

Solution: (at least one option to try)
What is required is the UniBeast USB drive which was used to install the OS X on the ProBook. Obviously it will be used to boot the machine. so...
1. Boot using the UniBeast USB
2. Select the OS X on the USB, as if to install the OS X fresh. (no install will take place)
3. Select the language when asked
3. from the top menu run the terminal app
4. on the prompt....
5. type: fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0
(a message saying enter help for info)
6. type: p
(a table gets displayed showing drive statistics)
7. type: f 1
(you get: Partition 1 marked active)
8. type: w
(a message about rebooting for changes to take effect)
9. type y
(this y is to accept the reboot...)
10. type: quit
(to exit fdisk)
11. Close the terminal then from the apple menu select shutdown.
12. Remove the UniBeast USB and boot from the HDD. (fingers crossed) you should get the original boot menu/options which were there previously.

All the best....

No need to install the bootloader to EFI on the ProBooks.

But you do need an active partition. Simply making a partition active (with fdisk) will do the trick.

If you have just OS X installed, the OS X partition should be active.
If you have both OS X and Windows installed, the Windows partition should be active.
