Dear all geek
Making an request for a clean & complete guide or mod for working Face Time & Photo Booth on HP Probooks. Really missed those.
Requesting specially to
tonymacx
BigDonkey
hilip_petev
RehabMan
Mr.Geek
& All other wo is concern
Hope you will consider this
Thanks

Seconded.
I was about to ask for help for the same issue.

Have already prepared a clean install of 10.8.4 with PBI6.1b15 for tests.
Am no good re programming, but I'll have some free time for testing ahead. :)
I have searched the web for this camera or general solutions but nothing helpful came up. (Lack of proper google bait?)

The webcam shows up in System information as
Product ID: 0xb372
Vendor ID: 0x04f2 (Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd.)
Version: 52.91
Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Chicony
Location ID: 0x1a130000 / 3
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 500

It works OK in linux and windows.

In ML, Photo Booth only shows a white spinner. When I open CamTwist 2.4, select "webcam" and click "Select" a picture is shown, but distorted (mucht too wide).

Macam says "Status: no camera"; not remedied with CamTwist.

Willing Webcam 1.2.1 shows a picture that is also too wide but less than Photobooth.

Please help.

I don't really use the camera, but here is my system info for the cam:

Code:
HP HD Webcam [Fixed]:

  Product ID:	0xb230
Vendor ID:	0x04f2 (Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd.)
  Version:	99.99
  Serial Number:	SN0001
  Speed:	Up to 480 Mb/sec
  Manufacturer:	Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd.
  Location ID:	0x1d140000 / 3
  Current Available (mA):	500
  Current Required (mA):	500

It seems to work in Facetime and PhotoBooth, but it is pretty dark and grainy.
Of course, today I'm sitting in a fairly dark room...

Well... exchanging the camera alone is no problem, but you likely lose the microphones.

The cam is connected via USB, and this guy showed how to determine the usb pinout. But even he did not get the microphone pinout. It is a matter of luck if a replacement cam&mic module fits the connector. In the worst case trying fries the mic circuits on the motherboard.

Update: CamWiz Webcam Recorder 2.1 also triggers Photo Booth to work. And it shows a small undistorted image itself.

For those who are happy with only the cam function, any ol' standard USB cam that is supported by the OS may be connected using the pinout provided at the cam/mic connector:

4740s webcam pinout.jpg

The cables that connect to the top four pins in the picture (D-, D+, GND, VDD_5V) are a USB. It should be usable for a replacement camera, or even for a completely different purpose.

The bottom four pins (3V3_MIC, GND, M_DATA, M_CLK) are the connection to the microphone. It is digital, I guess that rules out replacing it with an analog microphone (would have R/L/ground connections).

EN and 5V_KBL are a mystery to me. Does anybody have a clue?
EDIT: EN could be "enable". Kinda ON/OFF switch?

You guys know you can pick up a probook webcam board for less than 15 bucks?
I'm just going to try my luck at a few of those until I find one that works.

Facetime & photobooth fail. (I NEED this)
Google voice and skype work.
