I don't think that would be the end of Hackintosh, per se, as long as the mobo/cpu combinations were hackable. But if true this isn't good news. I'm skeptical. Seems like a large market share to simply lose? Why not create socket versions with pins of the same CPUs and sell them at a higher cost?

I just read another article that the Japanese source was mistranslated. Essentially what it was meant to convey that Haswell will be Desktop then Broadwell will be a laptop only upgrade. In the meantime higher clocked or V2 instances of Haswell will still be shipping for desktops. After that the desktops will see their proper upgrade with the Skylake chips. So it sounds like Haswell will be around for a good long while in the desktop market.
