I finally made the leap and spent the past week building my first computer. Which happens to be a Hackintosh. I spent a lot of time reading and researching. I used the CustoMac mATX as my starting point and then tweaked from there. I feel my set up is a good balance of performance and price.

The only real criteria I had was that the case had to fit my desk space and the system needed to be quiet.

My budget was $1200-$1500. I came in around $1375, which also included a keyboard.

Since this is my first build, i decided to dive in and get acquainted with the Clover Bootloader.
I followed this guide for the Clover-Yosemite install.
I recommend this guide for the nVidia Graphics card installation.
I used the latest MultiBeast to install Ethernet.
Drivers>Network>Atheros>AtherosE220Ethernet
I had issues with "no sound after sleep".
1. Patch native AppleHDA following this guide. Used method 3.1 cloverALC/Clover patched.
2. Followed this guide to install CodecCommander.kext.
Sounds seems stable at the moment.

One major issue I discovered that is worth mentioning. The Clover install sets my profile to iMac 14,2. When I tried to set the profile to a Mac Pro model, the config.plist file messed up. When I would boot, the process stalled at the Clover screen with a lot of Terminal code scrolling down the screen. Because this was my first attempt, I had no backup to boot from. My only way to fix this was the fresh install of Clover and OS X. So, for now, I'm running an iMac 14,2.

Overall, the build process was enjoyable and I learned a lot along the way.

Updates 11/15/2015:
11/15/2015: Added 2nd SSD with Windows 10. I now have dual boot system.
1/25/2016: Added Asus 28" Display.
