Hello,

I am considering buying an internal Blu-Ray drive, primarily to rip my collection of Blu-Rays to my media library (XBMC fan over here).

Should I be worried with compatibility with Mac OS X, or are they supported like DVD drives (meaning basically no special driver required).

I must buy from frys.com as I will have a change to pickup stuff in one of their shops in a trip I am doing to the USA. Here is what they have to offer http://goo.gl/JhS59. Any experience with any of those drives?

Tks!

I'm not sure about any of those drives.
A lot of people claim there are no working blu ray drives for a hackintosh.

But in my video production office we have four totally unique hackintosh systems and they all work 100% with this drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product

Read/write just as it's supposed to with Adobe Encore and Toast Titanium.

Thrashavich,

thanks for your reply. Do you BluRay drives also read disks normally via teh Finder or it is working only under the mentioned applications?

Your thread title states Blu-ray ROM Drive but you list burners.

I use the LG Blu-Ray ROM optical drive UH10LS20 but it's been superseded by this model: UH12LS28, at Newegg for $70 USD + $5 USD shipping in USA http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136232

I've had no problems using this drive including installing SL nor with sleep/wake-up. It's one of the exceptions to Sony & Pioneer optical drives we recommend for Hackintosh builds.
