Thinking about updating my laptop to 12.4 from 11.6. I prepared a USB but get kernel panic on boot.. Graphics SKL Framebuffer causes it.

Unsure about whether or not it is worth the trouble. Is Sierra buggy and unstable on Kaby Lake hardware as well?

Hi, RehabMan,

I need your help, my volume button (Fn+F6/F7) and other playback button (Prev = Scroll Button, Play/Pause=Pause Button, Next=Insert Button) are not working yet. I've already using VoodooPS2Controller.kext v1.8.25 (RehabMan-Voodoo-2016-1208) on macOS Sierra 10.12.4. Brightness key not work too but as you said on 10.12.4 Notes,. I use Brightness by bergdesign for it. Can you help me for volume and playback button? What I should provide to you?

My Laptop is HP Probook 430 G2 Broadwell

Thanks

Make sure you followed it as written.
And if you have an issue, read guide, post #1, "Problem Reporting". Reply in guide thread, not here.

I just installed 10.12.4 on my Lenovo u430.
And I think I see what you're referring to. It is more like a jerkyness at login and after login for a few seconds...

This sounds a lot like what I saw on the 800MHz Core M on 10.11, before we had the right platform-id and the right connector mapping.

My best theory at the time was that the jerkiness was that the eDP display wasn't really "plugged in" properly according to the connector map, and the GPU was flailing around trying to detect which displays were plugged in where.

By the way, thank you for saving me a weekend trying to installl 10.12 for no particularly good reason.

Yeah there was a post on last page 89 saying that using a bogus ig-platform-id caused no lag, but of course no QE/CI so we may be on something on what is causing it. Question is, is there another ig-platform-id that works properly for laptops for Intel 4600? The only other one that doesn't seem to cause my built-in LCD to show artifacts is "0x0a260005" but the lag is still there.

I will run with your idea and try to eliminate unused ports from the framebuffer...
