    Comments

So I was cleaning out the garage and found a bunch of stuff that i had which was broken/ not using anymore and though i could attempt to make something out of it.

    stuff i already had:
    Broken 1st Gen AppleTV
    Broken iMac G5
Outer casing for a 2nd gen MacMini
Dell 19.5V power brick from an old PC laptop

Originally i was going to use the MacMini outer casing but i figured that was too easy so i thought i'd challenge myself with the AppleTV! Boy it was a challenge! Alot of cutting - liquid welds - glue etc etc.

Had to do ALOT of modifications to the inner casing to make all components fit, the clearances are quite literally in the fractions of a millimeter (mm) range. things like placing nutserts into the copper heat sink and directly mounting it to the underside of the AppleTV.

i even had to modify the Macbook Fans to an even lower profile to be able to fit inside the case. i mounted them to the inside of the upper casing so that one blows air across the heat sink and another acts as an exhaust fan directed outward the back of the case.
(picture shows only one fan but added a second later)

I mounted the IR board in the original location to make use of the OEM Eye.

Routed the Wifi Antenna's and BT Antenna to the sides of the casing.

The most difficult thing i think was finding a spot for a power button since the AppleTV doesn't use any power button - i used the button from the MacMini and made some kind of bracket that i bent in the best way possible to both mount the button but to also allow a surface for the "click" to occur, while keeping it out of the way of the motherboard and other components.

    Install + Benchmarks

Clover install without much fuss using 10.12.3 - other than the iGPU causing that mildly annoying flicker in the top LHS of the screen.

    benchmarks: will post soon!

    Troubles

I cannot for the life of me get the WIFI/ BT Card to be activated on OS X , i can see it in IO Reg but I can't get it to work otherwise.

Also - SOUND... its not working at all. if anyone has any ideas on how to get it working that would be fantastic!

    Thanks for looking!
