Hi Hunter_RE!

Youre vidoe about the problem is like my problem! And i try to set GraphicsEnabler=No and freezes are gone! QE/CI are worked!<br>

For me is the temporary solution for now. (I dont won play games on OSX and watch DVD <img src="http://www.tonymacx86.com/images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="smile" smilieid="14" class="inlineimg">) But i very interested on the normal working solution of this problem (without any restrictions in OS work).<br>

For now i see the problem is in the video card, more precisely in its proper recognition system (with GraphicsEnabler=Yes) (the video card works fine in windows 7 for several months, and demanding games too and no complaints).<br>

It would be interesting to know whether there are more videocards with the same symptoms in the version 10.8-10.8.1 of OSX.<br>

Waiting for solving this issue...

p.s. i dont use overclock anywhere in the system.

UPDATED!!!
I am found the solution that help me:

1. I am fresh install ML 10.8 at this guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/mountain-...mountain-lion-6xxx-gpu-issues-fix-inside.html
2. I change/add info in org.chameleon.Boot.plist in the /Extra like this:

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>AtiConfig</key>
<string>Duckweed</string>

and all worked without any freeze!

Hope this any body help. (My video card is Sapphire HD6870 1Gb 2xDVI 1xHDMI 1xDP) also i install 10.8.1 combo update and it still worked shutdown+restart+sleep+wake DVD-player!

I have exactly the same problem! I've discovered right now... This is my hardware:

Gigabyte Z77-DS3H with BIOS F8
i5 3570K
Sapphire HD6870
8Gb RAM DDR3 1600Mhz

OSX Mountain Lion 10.8

If i boot with GraphicsEnabler=No, I have QE/CI, but my GPU is recognized like an ATI RADEON 6xxx, and don't have that problems, but I can't play Mafia II or use DVD Player.

If I boot with GraphicsEnabler=Yes, I have QE/CI too, and the system is recognized like an ATI RADEON 6870HD, and can play Mafia II and use DVD Player, but the system freezes for a short time when I load some web pages. See this video:

http://youtu.be/-2QU0rlgUPs

When i move the mouse in circles, it freezes for a short time, and when Safari is loading the web page (google in this case), it freezes too.

Have you solved that issue, or is the GPU?

I do not have the same problem as you- my system freezes completely at seemingly random times. I have no problem when I move my mouse in circles...

I tried adding the things above to my boot.plist ... it still froze :(

Any more suggestions? anyone? anyone?

My system would crash and restart on me. I changed my base clock from 100 to 100.1 and it hasn't crashed on me since. maybe for you all....

I found it on the tweaktown forums. z77x-ud5h random freezing and shutdowns should bring up a link to one of the 30+ pages of posts.

I have the exact same issue. My parts are ga-z77-u3h, i3 2100, radeon r6850.

I have the same exact prob as Naztik the system freezes I can move the mouse in circles but everything is frozen Im running leopard 10.6.8 Asus Extreme socket 2011 intel 3960x with Radeon 6870 xfx Ill try the bois solution see what happens anyone ever have that prob and solved it please help .

same problem as naztinc
i'm running ati 5870 vapor x.
i tried all bioses versions. i tried eve with ge=yes (but with uakari framebuffer, cause i have a 5870, not a 6870) and ge=no.
i have problems with ethernet, because network preferences show ethernet ports always turned on (but there isn't any cable insert on it!!)
maybe the problem is this

do you have firewire port enabled on bios?

Hi there. After many hours of researching a very similar problem for a friend of mine with a Hackintosh, I came to the solution that I believe works. I know that this will sound simple, and believe me I have tried all the suggestions listed here and other places, but this is the one that worked for him.

The default setting for Finder when opening a new Finder window is that it opens in "All My Files" which for most of us is a ton of files. Well, when I changed the Finder preferences to open a new Finder window into something other than "All My Files" the problem was solved. I believe that their is a bug in ML that has to do with indexing in Finder. I hope that this helps.

UPDATE: Okay, so my above post didn't work. I thought that it did when my buddy didn't report back that his computer was still freezing. Well, turns out that it still was freezing...

After more hours of researching I found out that this problem of freezing can be caused by outdated firmware of SSD's. He has a Crucial M4 SSD that had old (about a year old) firmware on it. We updated the firmware of the SSD and VOILA! no more freezing. Updating the firmware of an SSD can be kind of a pain in the ass, but I found a solution that really works and it is easy. The only thing that you need is access to a Windows computer. With access to a Windows machine you can use software to make a bootable USB drive that has the updated firmware on it.

If you have a crucial m4 here is the link to the most recent firmware:

http://edge.crucial.com/firmware/m4/010G/crucial-m4-010G-01-00.zip

You need to download USB installer software here (Windows only, hence the need for access to a Windows machine):

http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/

Here is the link to the detailed instructions:

http://edge.crucial.com/firmware/m4/010G/CrucialFirmware_m42-5_010G.pdf

Once you create the USB drive then you just boot from the drive and follow the directions. It is very simple.

Good Luck!!!
