Was just wondering if if anyone has ran across an issue where ram wasn't shown correct in system report. One reads as just RAM and the other shows DDR3 as well as manufacturer info. I have swapped both modules with no change and even booted with only one module at a time and still shows the same thing. Everything works fine also.
Any ideas?

Good to know I am not the only one then. I am not too worried about it as it doesn't seem to impact performance.
My geekbench scores seem to be right in line with other 2500k i5's with 1600 Mhz ram.
My Scores:
3.5 Ghz=9397
4.3 Ghz=11230
4.5 Ghz=11590 (used briefly to see how high I could get) :headbang:

It happens with my Gigabyte system as well (although I don't remember my Asus or Intel motherboard having the problem.) I've tried editing smbios a number of different ways, but the first DIMM isn't getting recognized correctly no matter what I put.

This is just a guess, but my initial thought is that it's something in the DSDT that's not configured correctly for OS X.

Same situation here...

This is what shows in bdmesg
Code:
Slot: 1 Type 24 4096MB (DDR3 SDRAM) 1600MHz Vendor=Corsair
      PartNo=CML8GX3M2A1600C9 SerialNo=00000000
Slot: 3 Type 24 4096MB (DDR3 SDRAM) 1333MHz Vendor=Corsair
      PartNo=CML8GX3M2A1600C9 SerialNo=00000000

Same here. Stumbled across it while investigating the HD3000 artifacts. Swapping modules didn't do anything but it does not seem to have any negative effect.
Currently running RAM @ 1333 MHz and CPU turbo set to 4.0 GHz. Cooler is the limitation .

Likewise, bdmesg shows my memory in both slots correctly identified, but it's missing information on the first DIMM in system profiler (even though everything is also specified in the smbios.plist.)

Code:
Slot: 1 Type 24 4096MB (DDR3 SDRAM) 1600MHz Vendor=G Skill Intl
      PartNo=F3-12800CL9-4GBSR2 SerialNo=00000000
Slot: 3 Type 24 4096MB (DDR3 SDRAM) 1600MHz Vendor=G Skill Intl
      PartNo=F3-12800CL9-4GBSR2 SerialNo=00000000

With the beta UEFI bios installed, I'm happy to report that the memory is identified on all 4 slots including the speed and manufacturer information WITHOUT a smbios.plist entry for the memory modules. Looks like the UEFI bios fixed the issue.

My noticed my RAM is identified properly now too! I just noticed it today and wasn't sure if it was the Mountain Lion update or UEFI update.

At least in my case, it's just because of the UEFI update as I'm still running Lion (haven't got to installing ML yet - this weekend! :)
