Just a note if you didn't know. As I did not know until I tested it.
If you create a RAiD in OSX using disc utility with 2 or 3 or 4 discs that are not the boot drive and then do a re-install, your raid configuration will remain.
I built a RAiD setup and was worried if I did a re-install the data on the raid would be lost. This is not the case. OSX is awesome. It saves the raid config to the raid drives themselves and not the boot drive. So, if you create a raid for storage, off the boot drive, it will remain even if you re-install. Nice.
