Hi!
After much searching, I finally managed to get hardware acceleration to work on my Radeon RX580 in Catalina 10.15.7. AND ATTENTION: It is not true that you can only make Hardware Acceleration work using SMBIOS MacPro 7.1 or iMAC 1.1 In my case, I have achieved it using SMBIOS from iMac 14.1
My specs:
MB: Intel S5520SC
Two XEON E5645 (Westmere)
40 gigabytes of ram.
Catalina 10.15.7 with Clover 5122
One ssd disk and 3 western digital hard drives.
I am using 6 USB ports without problem, and a Firewire connecting the Apogee Ensemble FW. And a PCI Express wifi card, Tplink N900
In the Radeon RX580 the HDMI out doesn't work. I'm using the first display port, with an adapter to my HDMI monitor. Don't know if the others ports work.
What was the secret? REMOVE WHATEVERGREEN. But beware! It may not work like this on all motherboards. If I left the whateevergreen.kext in the OTHER folder, the computer worked perfect but without HA. And with Whatevergreen.kext if I put SMBIOS Mac Pro 7.1 or iMac 1.1 sometimes the machine boots, but several times doesn't boot (TOO MANY). Now without the whatevergreen.kext, I usually turn on the computer and first it crashes and reboots itself, and the second or third time it boots up fine and works great.
And furthermore: the computer suddenly shut down every time when I clicked ABOUT THIS MAC. But that was fixed when I put the ONBOARD VIDEO ENABLE option in the BIOS.
Here my images of my EFI and my config.plist
