Radeon RX 590

I've installed the sapphire 590 in Mojave 10.14.1 and it shows up as a 580 with 8000mb video ram

Is it working with acceleration?

OpenCL and metal are both available in Adobe media encoder. Is there another way to check?

Click on the Apple menu button at the top, then click on About this Mac. Once there, click on System Report. Click on the Graphics/Displays tab. You should be able to see under the video card info, a line there that says, "Metal:
Supported, feature set...blah blah". That is, if it does support Metal.

Looks like it's supported. Not sure why it's showing as RX580 and not 590.

I have another question, I tried to enable a headless igpu and I have it showing in istat and MacX Video says it's supported. However, in system definitions, it doesn't list the intel GPU in graphics/displays. Any idea on what's going on?

That’s different from mine. I have Radeon Polaris with the Powercolor Red Devil 590. Do you have a real Mac?

I have a 2014 macbook pro. mine showed as Radeon Polaris before installing mutlibeast systemdefinition. after changing it to 17.1 it changed to 580

You have a MacBook Pro and a Hackintosh? Try downloading Geekbench, Luxmark Ball, Uningine Valley (all free apps) and post benchmarks please.
Valley choose ExtremeHD, Geekbench choose compute.

Headless means there is no display connection so it is active internally but it won't show as a graphics display. If you go into bios and set it as IGPU instead of PEG it will show up.

Try testing this Whatevergreenkext. To use it don't inject ATI in clover just the lilu and WEG kexts. It should convert your RX 580 name to RX 590.

I have 2 kexts one for converting RX 480 to RX 590 and one for RX 580 to RX 590. My setup lists my Powercolor as RX 480 so I use that one for this result in System profile.
Note: Apps will still probably list it as RX 580, RX 480 or Radeon Polaris. This is just a cosmetic fix for System Profile.
