Radeon Compatibility Guide - ATI/AMD Graphics Cards

I said it while back in this thread, but my switch from 980ti to Dual 7970's has made my Hack truly feel like a real Mac.

On that note, boy it was nice to do a quick point release update to Sierra yesterday with zero worries about NVIDIA Web Driver status. :)

How much did it affect your gaming when you switched?

It is possible to have 60Hz with 3840x1600 resolution? Monitor connected via Display Port to Ati HD5870.

Your System Profiler screenshot looks perfectly normal & fine to me. Can you verify that AMDRadeonX4000.kext has actually loaded (e.g. sudo kextstat | grep AMD)?

hey man how i do know i have the kext loaded for this video card R9 280X?im asking because a friend of mine bought this video card and the video card its not performing well, rendering a video take too much time,he cant even run the brucex test, the video card show fine on the System Profiler, but i think the AMDRadeon Keyt its missing

Nope. No injection or anything.

Natively supported and its glorious!

TurbineSeaplane can you do me a favor and install a demo of premiere to see if the Radeon HD 7970 works fine on premiere?or anyone with the Radeon HD 7970 can test the video card on premiere?thanks in advance!!

Did you inject any framebuffer?

I did, Futomaki(and Hamachi), but also tried with random stuff, so that it doesn't inject a FB. But it was the same way. Sierra says I have two of the same monitors connected, I can mirror them and it works, but this is no permanent solution... :/
I kinda have some progress. When I boot withDVI it's okay till the login screen(then it's black), where I have to plug the DVI out and plug HDMI in, that way Sierra only sees one monitor, and not 2 connected. But even if I only have HDMI connected, it detects two monitors
Also: connectingn the HDMI first when I'm on the login screen also fixes the issue. >_>

@Fl0r!an, do you mean the insanelymac tutorial? I tried following it, but it's so weirdly written that some stuff don't connect for me. :/

Edit: I take it all back. It was weird at first, but it started to make sense later. I skipped some stuff and the card he used for example is almost identical to mine, so it was easy. I saw why Sierra was seeing two monitors (my HDMI and DVI had the same connector types, both were 04 02 00 00, which is false, cause the HDMI has to be 00 02 00 00). Applied that along with everything else, and now it all works as it should <3

I have a Gigabyte RX 470 and it's working mostly fine after following the steps in the first post. However, despite me not actually having a 3rd display connected to the integrated graphics, macOS detects 3 displays. I use this app called DisableMonitor to disable it, but when I wake from sleep it comes back. Is there a way to either make it not come back, or to make it so the third display doesn't show up in the first place?

My main gripe with this is that I use Magnet to move my windows around using keyboard shortcuts, and it'll often go onto the nonexistent display.

@alex95sv: I'd try to create a custom framebuffer based on your video card's VBIOS.

@Ni6htWalker: It's the same command, sudo kextstat | grep AMD.

i have ran the command on my friend hackintosh, its everything ok on those lines @Fl0r!an
also what System Definitions i need to use on El Capitan to use the Radeon AMD Card?
